Living in Albania is expensive and in the future an increasing trend of costs is expected! For 2021, the cost of living in our country will be 3.8 percentage points higher than in 2020. According to a recent study, conducted by the global data portal on prices around the world, Numbeo, published on Monitor.al , Albania is one of the countries with the most expensive living in the region.
Out of 131 countries listed, our country was ranked 89th and in relation to 2020 Albania climbed to the ranking with 6 countries.
In another comparison, an American citizen living in New York receives the same services in Albania, spending 60 percent less. Although the cost of living is rising, the same cannot be said for income, a phenomenon which creates the first economic stalemate.
In terms of countries in the region, our country and Montenegro are two with the highest cost of living, while the cheapest are Serbia, Bosnia and Macedonia, while the average income is at least 30% higher than those of Albanians.
