Ice cream in China tests positive with Covid-19: What does this mean and is

In Tianjin, China, three ice cream samples tested positive with Covid-19.

Health authorities are now tracking down people who may have been "in contact" with the ice cream.

They were produced by food company Tianjin Daqiaodao in the northern area of ??Tianjin.

The company had produced a total of 4836 boxes, of which 1812 were sold to various provinces. About 2089 are sealed and secured, according to China Daily.

Authorities are investigating 65 boxes, which were sold in a local market, after 3 samples were found to be positive.

Residents who bought ice cream were asked to report their health and well-being.

1662 employees of the company are now in quarantine and 700 of them have turned out to be negative.

Dr. Stephen Griffin, a virologist, told Sky News there was no need to "panic".

"It could be the result of a problem with factory production and potentially with hygiene. "There is no need to panic because that does not mean that every piece of ice cream will suddenly be contaminated with coronavirus."
