At the Red Table Talk table, actor Will Smith has decided to talk about his past.
He discusses his childhood with a violent father and his troubled relationship with his father.
The actor said that much of his hilarious personality that we see today, was orchestrated years ago in an attempt to keep his abusive father entertained, so that he could stop hurting his family.
Smith spoke with clinical psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula about his relationship with his father and how it affected the rise of fame in the series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".
"My father was violent at home, so part of Will Smith's whole creation, joke, fun, stupidity, were to make sure my dad was happy enough not to hurt my mother, or anyone else in home, ”Will explained.
"I performed, danced and told jokes, while people having fun were my defense mechanism."
Later, in the interview, Will is asked about his daughter, Willow, about whom he says:
"It's the only relationship with a woman that I have not broken the cure for. "I'm sure Willow would now say to me, 'No, you did something wrong,' but in my mind, I did my best for him."
