Hair loss in men: What causes it and how to prevent it

What causes hair loss in men? Although people lose up to 100 hairs every day, it is not noticed as new hair continues to grow. Problems arise when new hair does not replace what has fallen out or grows at a slower rate compared to hair loss.

Hair loss occurs when the glands are damaged and disrupt the hair regeneration cycle. There are several factors that are considered responsible for causing hair loss:

- Genetics
- Hormonal changes and lifestyle
- Stress
- Improper hair care routine
- Low levels of vitamins and proteins
- Certain medical conditions
- Chemicals found in hair coloring products

Thankfully, there are several ways to prevent hair loss.

1. Invest in good hair care products: Use an anti-hair loss shampoo or do trainings aimed at combating hair loss and improving their growth.

2. Include vitamins in your diet: Vitamins A, E, B, D and vitamin H increase overall hair health, encourage healthy sebum production in the scalp, improve blood circulation to the skin and stimulate the hair follicles to produce new yarns.

3. Adjust your lifestyle: Stress is one of the important factors that causes hair loss. We know it's easier said than done, but some lifestyle changes may not improve overall health, including hair. You can start by getting enough sleep, avoiding alcohol and smoking, making healthy eating a lifestyle, meditating for at least 20 minutes and drinking plenty of water.

4. Treat at home: Applying onion, garlic or ginger juices to the scalp can promote hair growth. Massaging the scalp and hair with green tea once or twice a week can reduce hair loss.

5. Seek expert advice: As soon as you notice a change, visit a dermatologist. They can assess the current condition of the scalp and help you personalize the hair care routine that is most suitable for you.
