The Cybercrime Investigation Unit at the Criminal Police Department has recently investigated and monitored a campaign of text messages being sent to people. The sole purpose is to deceive those who decide to respond by taking bank details and money.
"To better clarify the public opinion, this fraud campaign, through messages, comes after many other telephone fraud campaigns that appeared many years ago. One of the most popular messages last month is called "WhatsApp Fraud", which has received such a name because most of the time it is sent to this application. the text of the message is as follows:
"Congratulations !!, your phone number has been selected as the winner of seven hundred thousand US dollars (700,000.00USD) in the WhatsApp 2020 COVID-19 donation program. Send your winning reference No.WH / US-6463457 to email: info @ intldraës for more details on how to withdraw your funds. Contact info @ intldraës for further questions. NOTE THAT THIS IS A CONFIDENTIAL TEXT. ”
If you choose to respond, you will be asked for information such as your full name, place of residence, address, age, gender, status and employment.
Every detail that will be sent by them further is nothing but a strategy to make the fraud even more credible. The organizer of this fraud scheme is currently unidentified, but during this decade these types of fraud are part of what are called "Nigerian fraud".
In short, if you notice that one (or more) of the details below reach your WhatsApp, do not reply.
