Joaquin Phoenix and his partner, Rooney Mara, have become parents for the first time. Although the duo has not confirmed anything, the news was revealed by director Victor Kossakovsky.
During the Zurich 2020 Film Festival, Kossakovsky spoke after the screening of the black-and-white documentary Gunda, in which Joaquin served as executive producer.
"He just became a father by the way. [A beautiful boy named River has come to life. ” - said Kossakovsky (via Guardian).
Apparently, the name is dedicated to Joaquin's late brother. River Phoenix, another movie star, died at the age of 23 as a result of an accidental drug overdose. Although more than two decades have passed since River's death (1993), the world continues to mention and love him just as much as when he called his phenomenal talent.
"I feel that in every film I make there is a connection to River, one way or another. I think we all feel his presence and care in our lives," Joaquin said in an interview in January. for "60 Minutes". "The feeling of grief can come from nothing. I may be giving in to the car and all of a sudden, I feel it. I can do nothing but welcome it."
Joaquin and American actress Rooney Mara have been together since 2016. They got engaged in July 2019.
