The former reality show "Made In Chelsea" star, 33, shared several posts on Instagram Stories, sharing a comparison between two photos with her followers.
She expressed how the photo filters have affected her mental health and says she has experienced feelings of dysmorphia as a result.
Ashley James, who is expecting her first child with Tom Andrews, admitted that sometimes these filters shake her self-confidence.
"I wanted to show why I think the Paris filter is so harmful to us."
She continues:
"This is a picture of my face ... You can see the lines, the pores, the small spots, even the makeup particles that have fallen on my lips. Now I will show you the same photo with the 'Paris' filter. "
"My skin is clean and flawless, my makeup looks more perfect and my lines are more beautiful. "Of course I prefer my face to look like this, but this is not real life."
"The more I see my face like this, the more I would like my real face to look that way. So the more I feel unhappy with my real skin. This is where superficial insecurities penetrate ... Dismorph, and when we start wanting to change our appearance, which, incidentally, can lead to more insecurity (especially if it goes wrong or we feel like strangers on our skin). "
James went on to say that people often cannot control and compare themselves to what they see on social media, but she also said that a photo is not always as it appears on social media and that many photos are touched and edited / edited on digitally.
She also added:
"I'm certainly not against anti - aging products (give it all to me) or people who choose to make cosmetic changes. Whatever makes us happy."
