By mid-March, when coronavirus originating in China spread around the world, many countries found themselves in total isolation. The increase in the number of infected people as well as the completion of protective equipment forced the governing bodies to seek help. The fashion industry also joined the contributions to prevent the spread of the virus. Designer Christian Siriano didn't even think that in his career he would produce and sew face masks himself.
According to InStyle, when the governor of New York said a team was needed that could sew protective caps and work from home, for free, Siriano was the first to respond.
The designer has sewn more than 30,000 masks producing in some cases another 2,000 such a day.
"It's back like a business," said the designer, who turned the studio into a "factory" for sewing masks. "Fashion is in the dark now. Nobody buys clothes because they have nowhere to wear them. ?
Given the pandemic, Siriano has changed his approach to fashion. "I don't want to think too much about the future, because anything can change in a second. It doesn't matter if you're wearing it while others are sick or dying. "
Christian Siriano?s Instagram is filled with photos during his daily life and the team as they produce hundreds of protective masks a day.
