A Nigerian woman gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, at the age of 68.
Margaret Adenuka underwent four artificial inseminations before becoming pregnant and giving birth to twins.
Her husband, Noah Adenuga, told CNN they were married in 1974 and have always loved children.
"I am a dreamer and I was convinced that this dream of ours would come true," he said.
The children came to life through a caesarean section in the 37th week last Tuesday, but the news was made public recently to give the mother time to recover.Dr. Adeyemi Okuonoë, who took care of the mother and children, said: ?As an elderly woman and as the first pregnancy, she was in danger. Moreover, it was about twins. But we did it. ?
Last year, a 73-year-old Indian woman gave birth to twin girls conceived through artificial insemination. She is said to be the oldest mother.
Okunoëo said that although older women can get pregnant, doctors need to explain the dangers of the procedure.
