The Drake Villa in Toronto, which was introduced to Architectural Digest - a monthly American magazine founded in 1920 with the main theme of interior design - is a good case study for extravaganza.
"In shape and material, the structure is a proper limestone mansion of the 19th century," said designer Ferris Rafauli. "But the exterior profiles are minimalist and the lines are less thick and cleaner. It is not mortar and paint. Drake didn't want that, and so we did. "
Drake's residence - which he calls the Embassy - contains luxury materials, including bronze, black granite and brown agate, while the decor includes sculptures by American artist KAWS.
"It's a great luxury," Drake told Architectural Digest (AD). "This is done through the size of the rooms and the interior materials of the floor and ceiling. I wanted people to see the work I've done over the years reflected in this house. "
Another space, called the "Great Room," features a magnificent piano created by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami in collaboration with Rafauli.
"Drake's world is entirely music, so he wanted a piano. It is a worthy display of art, craftsmanship and quality, ?the designer added.
Drake bought the residence in Toronto, Canada, in 2015 for $ 6.7 million. The rapper, who in 2019 had a fortune of $ 150 million, according to Forbes, said the house demonstrates his desire to "stay where he was born."
