Romina Lekaj, the wife of Petri Lekaj, who killed her daughter, Sabrina, allegedly started using drugs, regularly saw her husband in prison. In a recent statement (via The Advertiser), Romina described the grave event as a "family tragedy" and noted, in her view, the failure of the medical system.
?I just want to say it's a family tragedy; a family that was devastated by doctors' inability to diagnose my husband's mental illness. ?
She added that the "drug use epidemic" is a widespread phenomenon in Australia where, according to Lekaj, state policies are lacking, so "the smartest children fall prey to drugs".
"I hope this serves to save other families."
