Gisele Bündchen is not a fan of the word "stepmother". During a question-and-answer sequence with followers on Instagram, someone asked what it was like to be a stepmother of a 12-year-old boy. John is the son her husband, Tom Brandy, has with ex-wife Bridget Moynahan.
"I don't like the word 'stepmother'," she said. ?I like the word 'bonus mom' because I see it as a blessing in my life. I feel so fortunate to have a little and wonderful angel in my life. ?
Bündchen and Brady have been married since 2009 and have two children together: Benjamin Rein, 10, and Vivian Lake, 7.
As for the term "bonus mom", although not very popular, it is a term used in recent years that more or less removes the stereotypes created for the word "stepmother".
In Old English, the word "orphan" was "steopchild" and "stepmother" was considered the woman who became the mother of an orphan. But nowadays, a child is not necessarily an orphan if he has stepmothers.
Even in Albanian, the term stepmother has in some cases a negative connotation, if we consider expressions like "stepmother's son", "some mother's, some stepmother", "looks at stepmother's eye" etc. Yet stories have shown that it is merely a stereotype.
