So far, the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,660 people, and as Europe's first casualty has been recorded, the need to take precautionary measures in our country arises. According to Top Channel, health authorities in Tirana are mulling over the most appropriate places to set up a quarantine if people affected by the virus are identified.
Quarantine is a separate facility set up to cure suspected cases that have been affected by viruses of such magnitude and to cure them away from other people. The isolation period is 14 days and during this time they will be provided with all necessary services.
Although the discussion is being held at the expert level, the latter have decided not to state yet where the quarantine will be. Sources for Top Channel say there are two possible locations and an empty infirmary service facility at TUHC is being planned. Patients will be transferred to other hospitals. The second place where quarantine can be set up is in the southern part of the capital, far from the residential areas.
However, it is not yet known whether the building is equipped with all the infrastructure and measures needed to cope with a risk.
At the Institute of Public Health, teams have arrived to enable the analysis of case samples and confirmation of a diagnosis without having to be sent to laboratories in Germany.
