Elvana at Eurovision: How the truth stands

Albanians were just as enthusiastic as foreign Eurovision fanatics about Elvana Gjata's suggestion she would represent San Marino at the renowned European festival.

In Anabel.al 's poll, the vast majority, exactly 72%, said that "it would be unprecedented for Elvana to represent San Marino". But how does the truth stand? Has Elvana really received an invitation to represent the microstate at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam?

Sources close to the singer told Anabel.al that "it is not true that Elvana received an invitation" and "are as surprised as the followers themselves". Until these moments, it all just remains a fans' wish.

However, it would not be surprising for Elvana to receive an invitation. As we have explained in another article, San Marino is a microstate in Italy with 34,000 inhabitants and consequently has had to borrow singers from other countries around the world to represent it. We also add that there are few places that are open to the idea of participating with a foreign singer. For example, in 2009, Besa Kokedhima participated in Selectia Nationala to represent Romania at Eurovision. Her song "Nothin 'Gonna Change" went all the way to the semi-finals. Likewise, two years ago Eleni Foureira, who started and built her entire career in Greece, represented Cyprus.
