It's been just a week since YouTube star Nikkie de Jager - known as NikkieTutorials - came out as a transgender woman. The blogger gave an interview to Ellen DeGeneres explaining how she was forced to tell the truth after so many years.
In the video that has been viewed over 31 million times, Nikkie revealed that she was coming out openly because someone was blackmailing her. She told Ellen she had always wanted to tell the truth to the fans, but had not found the right moment.
And then this decision was made by someone else for him. "A few weeks ago, I got emails from a specific person who didn't feel good about lying and wanted to expose me," she told Ellen.
In her earliest videos, about 2008 when she was only 14, Nikkie was in the midst of transition. Apparently, the blackmailer thought Nikkie was hiding her true identity.
"There was a very tense tone and he told me that if I didn't respond within a day, he would make it public," Nikkie said. "And I think his intention was to ruin my life."
Smiling, Nikkie added, "But find what? It didn't ruin anything for me. ?
The blogger has received a lot of positive reactions to the video, in which she confessed to being transgender. However, she admits she was too afraid to post the video.
?I started crying and had fiancé, Dylan, by the side. He told me I could do it, that I could do it. He pushed me the most. He said, 'We'll get over that too. Everything will go well. You will get better, you will do it, '?Nikkie says.
Nervousness over how fans would expect it turned to emotion when he saw everyone backing him.
?I want to use this opportunity to inspire other transgender people. Even if you later found out about your identity, we should accept it, "she said, adding that she hopes her action will normalize transgender people and demonstrate that they are not" monster "as they are labeled.
Nikkie has always known that she was born into the wrong body and considers herself lucky that her mother supported her from the beginning.
"I told her I wanted to wear girl clothes and it never stopped me," Nikkie confessed. "Although the doctors wanted us to wait a little longer."
Nikkie began the transition when she was still a child and completed it in her late teens.
