But if you factor in qualities like security, gender equality, ecological life, laws that protect the family and human rights, you have to look elsewhere. The United States was ranked 18th to raise a child. The first countries are Denmark, Sweden and Norway, which have no habitat.
These states have long maternity leave for mothers and fathers, preschool education is free, and the education system is generally quality.
Canada came in fourth, followed by the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia and Austria. The United Kingdom was placed eleventh.
The Best Countries report estimates 73 nations through 65 different factors. To compile the lists, more than 20,000 people are interviewed in North and Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Switzerland was selected as the Best State for the fourth consecutive year. Kedaa came in second, followed by Japan, Germany, Australia and the United Kingdom.
