The boyfriend shot her in the head, but she did not notice him for a month

More than two years ago, a woman from Atlanta went to the hospital with headaches, memory and communication problems. Nicole Gordon suspected that the blame for the symptoms was a car accident, which she suffered a month ago. But in fact, the blame was a bullet that doctors found at the base of the woman's skull. Apparently, the boyfriend had shot her and she had no idea.

According to authorities, Nicole brought a friend to hospital in June 2017. After learning she had a bullet to the head, she told investigators that she had been mistreated by her then boyfriend, Jerrontae Cain, a month earlier. He said they were being trapped in the car when the passenger side window was smashed. Nicole lost her feelings and when she woke up, she found herself in Cain's car. He then woke up at Cain's mother's house again, with a head injury that he thought was caused by the broken window glass.

This left Cain to at least understand. He told the same story to the police. According to him, Gordon slammed the car into a tree, but according to prosecutors, evidence at the crime scene did not support this story. Investigators concluded that someone had shot Gordon and demanded Cain's arrest. He dodged authorities for a year and a half, until the FBI found him in January and arrested him after a two-hour shootout.

On Thursday, Cain was sentenced to 25 years in prison and five years probation on four charges. Cain had been arrested 13 times before and convicted of sexual assault in 2010. He was also abusive to Gordon. Moreover, he was not taken to hospital after the incident. Now, doctors say they can't remove the bullet from Gordon's head because he could lose his life.
