If you've achieved two things in shoebox over the past 60 years, you probably have a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Surprisingly, a number of popular music or cinema figures have not even come close to this specific achievement.
Even some celebrities have rejected the star by their own name for reasons that they could not remember.
1. The process of having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is more complicated than winning an Oscar
First, someone must be nominated by a third party - friends, family, fans - and then sign an agreement accepting the star and guaranteeing that he or she will be present at the star's unveiling ceremony.
This agreement is followed by a lengthy application process containing a list of all celebrity achievements, awards and community services. This application, among 200 others, is being considered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
2. The star itself costs some
If the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce approves the application, the nominee - or celebrity - must pay a full $ 40,000.
The payment covers star realization and Walk of Fame maintenance. The nominated character has five years to find a date where he can be present at the dedicated ceremony. Otherwise, the process starts all over again.
3. Getting a star after the death of an artist is even harder than that
When Prince passed away in 2016, fans turned to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to remember the legendary artist. Everyone was surprised that he didn't have a star on the boulevard, so they wrote his name on a free star. According to Ana Martinez, producer for the Hollywood Walk of Fame, fans have to wait five years to see a late artist star on the boulevard.
Prince was nominated for the first time after releasing the hit "1999," but refused. Martinez says he wasn't ready.
The same thing happened with fans of Carrie Fisher, who, like Prince, doesn't have a star on the Walk of Fame. "It's never nominated," Martinez says.
4. Some nominees simply do not leave a date for the ceremony
It may seem like a long-awaited moment, but some celebrities, such as Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Al Pacino and Bruce Springsteen, have not left a date for public ceremonies. In fact, the entity imposed a rule that obliged nominees to guarantee turnout, otherwise they are not considered, "Call it Springsteen Police," Martinez jokingly says. Springsteen turned down his star.
5. Some are just not interested
Like Springsteen, Julia Roberts and Clint Eastwood never wanted a star on the boulevard. "It's a vacant lot in front of the Chinese Theater, if you change your mind," Martinez tells Eastwood who has been nominated several times.
6. Some have simply never been nominated
This list includes Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Emma Stone and Denzel Washington.
