Monday May 13 marks the beginning of the week for (Mental Health Awareness) - a 7-day campaign that addresses different causes every year. This year, 2019 is dedicated to the body image.
Studies recently carried out in this regard concluded that not only young people are interested in a "perfect body", or those who withdraw from advertising and what they see on social networks. 1 out of 8 adults in Great Britain thought to commit suicide just did not like what he sees from his / her body.
Many others feel ashamed of their bodies because they are not in the "size" they love without wanting the society has decided.
On the other hand, the age group of 18-25 years old says that the pictures they see on social networks worries even more about their body.
Although men are also affected by such a problem, unhappy women (of all ages) with body image are in higher numbers.
Problems or complexes about body image affect everyone regardless of the stage of life in which they are located.
What can be done about it?
The Mental Health Foundation suggests that it is the government that needs to undertake measures for social excellence. This means that their pieces are / are promoted / published, different masses / shapes / colors of any age and not just.
This would protect both young people and adults from the negative emotions they may experience when only a model is needed as the body "they should have".
On the other hand, if you feel that social networks are influencing your thoughts about your body, remember who you are and press the "unfollo" button for all those accounts that promote an unrealistic or unhealthy lifestyle.
Then, in conversations every day try to talk positively about all kinds of bodies, thus avoiding stereotypes. Finally, make sure that when you read this, have your mom and anyone else you've heard of lately complaining about excess kennels.
