The famous American actress Doris Day passed away at 97 years of age. Her Doris Day Animal Foundation confirmed the news saying Hollyhood's icon passed away this Monday at her home in California.

Day enjoyed good health until recently, while recently faced serious pneumonia problems.

She started her career as a singer in the group "Les Brown and His Band of Renown" in 1939, which gained fame after the song "Sentimental Journey". Film career started in the late '40s with "Romance on the High Seas", followed by "Calamity Jane", "Pillow Talk", "Move Over, Darling"

Dramas, music and comedies make Doris Day one of the most popular actresses in the 50s and 60s and of course one of the most popular actors in history. In 2011, she released another album titled "My Heart", which was listed in Top10 in the UK.
