In his recently released book, "Sonny Boy," Al Pacino talked about an injury he suffered at the age of 10 that still haunts him to this day. The incident happened when he was walking on a wet iron object and slipped. As a result, he was hit on the penis and, as you can imagine, experienced excruciating pain.
Pacino recalls feeling so much pain that he was unable to return home. Thankfully, a strange man helped him get home.
Pacino describes the feeling he was going through as he lay in bed with his pants unbuttoned while his mother, grandmother and aunt whispered to each other and discussed the incident.
He points out that his genital organ remained in place, but the trauma was great.
The actor characterizes the incident as one of the most embarrassing moments of his life. In the memoir, The Godfather star reflects on his ability to "cheat death". He also recounts his mother's attempts at suicide, as well as trouble with the law in New York.
