A few days after Prime Minister Rama's statement that no betting odds will be established in the country since January 1, the change in the law will make it possible to do so. According to Top Channel, subjects "Sports bets" and "Bets for races on the runway" will run until December 31, 2018. Applications for licensing will be discontinued. If this proposal is approved, around 4,500 bills will be closed in the country.
According to the National Business Center data , in Albania there is a 730-point bet, a relatively close ratio. In 2017, Albanians played full 130 million euros in casinos and sports betting.
Consequences
Closing betting points and casinos brings down revenue to the state budget. The government gathers 40m euros from business taxes, but according to Top Channel, the effect of this value is negligible.
Second, 4,500 betting points employ at least two people. As of 1 January, over 9,000 people will remain unemployed.
reaction
Religious communities expressed their support to Prime Minister Rama's initiative arguing that gambling has become a disease for Albanian families.
