Recently, a deceptive world scheme has included Albania as well. Mobile phone operators say it has become a concern because people are not informed and fall prey simply by calling back a missed call from a foreign number.
How does the scheme work:
Someone falls in the phone. Or rather, a ringing ring can sound confusing for a call. A foreign number is displayed on the screen, most likely with +375, +371, +370, respectively Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia. The person sees the lost call and calls back the foreign number. Without any warning bells, the call starts and lasts for 15 seconds, which consists only of the secretary's reply that says something in Russian. At this moment, the citizen terminates the call because he understands that something is wrong. Meanwhile, 105 Lek invoiced outside the package.
In the following, such calls are followed by saving the prefix, but changing the number. When the victim does not call back because he understands the scheme, the callers go to someone else.
The scheme earns money when citizens call back to the foreign number. The fee is paid by the mobile company with which the citizen has a contract and this money is added to the full monthly bill that the citizen pays.
Monitor reports that in Albania are added cases of fraudulent scheme known as the "Schema of a ringtone". Domestic mobile telephony operators have preferred to bear the extra costs incurred as a result of this scheme have advised their customers not to turn calls to foreign numbers they do not know.
