After it was reported that he was arrested yesterday (March 11, 2026) on charges of illegal possession of weapons, media sources have also revealed the circumstances that led to the detention of Besart Kelmendi, known to the public as Gjesti.

According to sources for Prive by Liberta Spahiu, the incident occurred after the singer went to the offices of the music company Onima, with which he had previously collaborated for the distribution of digital rights to his projects. It is reported that during the meeting there was an argument with the company's director, Erkand Shabani, and the situation became tense.

Sources indicate that during the conflict, a computer on the company's premises is suspected to have been damaged, which led its managers to notify the police of threats and damage to property.

After police intervention, the artist was detained and charged with three criminal offenses: "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons", "Threats" and "Destruction or damage to property", according to the Criminal Code of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has announced that it has submitted to the Basic Court in Pristina the request for the singer to be remanded in custody. According to the court's spokesperson, Mirlinda Gashi, the hearing to review this request is expected to be held tomorrow (March 13, 2026) at 09:30.

Currently, Gjesti is under police detention for 48 hours, while the Prosecutor's Office has announced that investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the case are still ongoing.

The clash between Gjesti and the Onima company, run by Erkand Shabani, is not new. Tensions between the parties became public during the summer of 2025, when the artist announced that he was taking a break from releasing new musical projects.

At the time, Gjesti stated on social media that he had been forced to stop releasing songs due to “injustices” and conflicts with his previous distributor, stressing that he would not release any projects until the matter was resolved. He claimed that the dispute was related to the rights and distribution of his music.

On the other hand, Onima's director, Erkand Shabani, reacted publicly by denying the accusations and stating that the dispute was related to the artist's request to be released from the existing contract for the distribution and monetization of his artistic content. According to him, the agreement was signed with full will and any claim should be addressed through legal channels.
