Everyone, brace yourselves: Season 2 of "Wednesday" is closer than ever, and the trailer just gave us everything we (didn't) want to see. Netflix released the first look at the new gothic chapter on July 9th — which would have been a Wednesday, of course — and it's a mix of grimness, dark humor, and predictable heartache.
Jenna Ortega returns as the iconic Wednesday Addams, and this time, she's not just dealing with superpowered teen drama, but with a vision that shakes her to the core: her best friend, Enid (Emma Myers), is dying. And Wednesday is convinced it's her fault.
"Enid dies and it's all my fault," she is heard confessing to Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), as she promises "I'll save her or die trying."
Meanwhile, in Nevermore, she faces unexpected fame as the school's "savior," but as we all know: Wednesday is not the type to take a beating. Instead of glory, she has a more important job: to stop what she saw in her vision from happening.
The footage also shows new faces in the cast, including Steve Buscemi as Nevermore's new director, as well as the return of beloved actors from season one. And if that wasn't enough, Lady Gaga will make a special guest appearance, while Christopher Lloyd, the original actor who played Uncle Fester in the 1991 film, will make a surprise appearance in the series.
Season 2 will be split into two parts: four episodes on August 6 and another four on September 3, both on Wednesdays, as Addams tradition dictates.
With more mystery, more predicted deaths, and more gothic style, Wednesday is coming to grips with us again.
