Ryan Ramsey served as captain of the HMS Turbulent submarine, part of the United Kingdom naval fleet, between 2008-2011 and stayed for 286 days at sea without ever seeing the sun. In a video for the BBC on self-immolation, he outlined 5 important points:
1
"Routine. Make sure you have a routine and adjust to it. Once you adjust to the routine and repeat it, the days pass: they become weeks, weeks months maybe. I don't know how long it can take, but you also get used to that routine. "
2
"As strange as it sounds, but important is the cleaning. You need to make sure you are clean and take care of yourself. Don't give up.
3
"I would suggest that you rest for a while. There are endless developments, endless news. it's important to cut yourself off from the news a little bit, because it reduces anxiety. "
4
"When you see debates being more and more present in the family, you have to start to soften the relationship."
5
?The last and perhaps most important is communication. Just talk to the people at home or other relatives because socialization is vital for everyone. ?
"We have capable people who are trying to solve this problem and we need to be part of the solution and help as much as we can," he concluded.
