It seems that the well-known model's collaboration with the Adidas brand has caused quite a bit of virtual "turmoil", precisely because of the model of sneakers from the 70s presented as a special collection commemorating the 52nd anniversary of the Munich Olympic Games.

Bella Hadid was chosen as the promotional image of this sneaker line, but surely even the model herself did not expect that instead of compliments, she would face criticism precisely for this collaboration with the famous sports brand. We remember that at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972, 11 Israeli athletes and a German policeman were killed precisely by a Palestinian militant group.

Hadid responded with a post on Instastory stating that she was "shocked" and "upset" by the comparison people have made to this sneaker line with the atrocious events of 1972.

"My team should have known this, Adidas should have known, and I should have done more research so I could have understood everything and spoken up," added the Vogue cover star. Adidas has already apologized for the campaign and the "negative impact" it had on Hadid and the other models involved in the campaign.

"Relations continue to be made to the terrible tragedy that occurred at the Munich Olympics because of our recent SL72 campaign," the shoe brand said in a statement on Adidas Originals' Instastory.

"These links are unrelated and we apologize for any inconvenience caused worldwide."

We recall that the supermodel's father, Mohammed Hadid, is Palestinian and has long been an outspoken activist for Palestinian causes, denouncing the campaign's link to the "liberation of the Palestinian people."

"Palestine is not synonymous with terrorism," Bella wrote in the post, "and this campaign inadvertently highlighted an event that does not represent who we are."

She continued, "I'm a proud Palestinian woman and I think there's a lot more to our culture than what's been compared this past week."

Hadid also denied being anti-Semitic, writing: “Anti-Semitism has no place in the liberation of the Palestinian people.

"I'm always for peace over violence, every day," she added. "Hate has no place here and I will always protect not only my people but every person around the world."

As for Adidas, it is not the first time that it has stopped cooperation because of accusations of anti-Semitism. In October 2022, the sports brand terminated cooperation with Kanye West, because it "does not tolerate anti-Semitism", based on the rapper's comments about the Jewish community.
