A serious event has been in the spotlight recently, where a 25-year-old girl lost her life after consuming a poisonous substance, identified as photoxin, a highly toxic industrial pesticide.
The young woman, originally from Lezha, was found without signs of life in her apartment in Tirana and passed away on March 10, 2026, on her way to the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center, while forensic authorities confirmed that the cause of death is suspected to have been cardiac arrest from poisoning.
According to her family, the 25-year-old had a problematic relationship with her ex-partner, whom she married in June 2025 and separated after three months due to numerous conflicts.
The family filed a complaint at Police Station No. 2 in Tirana, claiming that the violence exerted by the ex-partner forced the girl to consume the poisonous substance. They indicated that signs of violence were observed on the girl's body, which were confirmed by the autopsy performed by the Institute of Forensic Medicine. It is suspected that the ex-partner continued to visit her even after the separation.
Tirana Police announced that her ex-partner was wanted for two criminal offenses: "domestic violence" and "causing suicide." The official announcement states:
"The Crime Investigation Specialists of Police Station No. 2 have declared citizen EF, 25 years old, wanted, as he is suspected of having exercised violence against his girlfriend, an act which is suspected of having caused the citizen to consume photoxine. Intensive work is being done to locate and capture him, as well as to clarify and document the circumstances of the case."
The autopsy also revealed that the young woman was not pregnant, dismissing any possible allegations on the matter. The examination confirmed signs of physical violence, placing the tragedy in the context of pressure and mistreatment that may have led to the fatal act.
The victim allegedly left behind a letter for her parents, which read:
"I no longer wanted those people who had hurt me to continue to hurt me."
Police investigations continue, while authorities emphasize that they will make all new information public once the expert examinations are completed and the circumstances are fully documented.
