It is said that Diana did not have a normal reaction when she received the marriage proposal from Charles

The marriage of the late Princess Diana and King Charles III remains today one of the most fabulous ceremonies in the world, with an unforgettable wedding dress that entered history for its length and detail, with many VIP guests and famous people, a lot of luxury etc.

But behind this seemingly perfect panorama, there have been many dramas and difficult moments that have sometimes been made public for admirers of the late princess and sometimes revealed through books by biographers of the royal family.

The Princess of Wales, then just 20, was Lady Diana Spencer who had only met Charles 12 times before he was on her knee. Charles invited Diana to Windsor Castle and then took her to the castle garden, making a not-so-romantic proposal, according to "The Mirror".

While we are used to watching videos or witnessing various proposals that are usually greeted with smiles, tears of joy or strong hugs, Diana responded to this proposal with laughter.

"She burst out laughing," royal expert Ingrid Seward said in the Channel 5 television documentary, "Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding." "I think maybe it was her nerves that kicked in. She didn't think this was going to be the most romantic proposal of her life."

Charles' actions after the proposal were the ones that got the most attention, as instead of hugging his sweetheart, he immediately called his mother.

"He didn't take Diana in his arms, hug her or do any of those gestures that usually happen during a marriage proposal," said royal biographer Christopher Wilson. "He called his mom, just to tell her told everything that happened. You asked me to marry someone and I did," Charles is said to have told his mother at the time.

But it wasn't long before their marital problems surfaced. Charles and Diana separated in 1992, only to be officially divorced four years later. A year later, Diana tragically died in a car accident. Meanwhile, Charles married Camilla Rosemary Shand in 2005, with whom he had been in a relationship throughout his marriage to Diana.
