Every year, when the Eurovision Song Contest airs, social networks are filled with Americans wanting to participate (or wondering what is going on). Already, there is an American version of the famous European competition dating back to 1956.
According to Variety, the American Song Contest will be similar to the Eurovision format and will be broadcast for the first time in 2021.
Competitors will first qualify at state levels before submitting their songs to the major festival. Like its "Atlantic counterpart", the American Song Contest will feature representative songs from 50 countries across the United States. The jury will be composed of music professionals.
At the moment it is still unclear the success of the American Song Contest and which music genre will prevail among the participants.
