Spain could be the next destination for many people who can work remotely, as the new law will allow visitors to live and work there for up to 3 years.
Spain is planning to introduce a "nomadic digital visa" - which allows stays and the opportunity to work for up to a maximum of 12 months. Thereafter, this visa may be extended two more times.
Many special destinations in Spain, mainly rural and small towns, have been left with few inhabitants. Towns and villages will join the National Network of Welcoming Villages for Remote Workers (Red Nacional de Pueblos Acogedores para el Teletrabajo) to encourage people working remotely to visit Spain. These places have less than 5,000 inhabitants and want to attract new inhabitants.
The new Spanish visa for remote workers has been created for foreign workers from the Non-European Economic Zone (which also includes our country). People with EU passports or coming from Schengen countries can work remotely in Spain for less than 6 months without having to register officially.
