Nearly three weeks after Joe Jonas filed for divorce to end their four-year marriage, the Game of Thrones star has filed a lawsuit to return their daughters Willa, 3, and DJ, 14 months, to England. where she and Jonas reportedly agreed to move in earlier this year.
In the lawsuit, the actress told her side of the story. In court documents obtained by E! News, Sophie Turner states that Joe and their two children left England in early July "because he was going to start touring with his band in the US." At the time she was filming the miniseries "Joan," she adds that "the parties agreed that the children moving with their father on tour would only be a temporary arrangement."
Noting that Sophie had planned to join her family after filming ended, the documents say her and Joe's breakup came "very suddenly".
"The parties quarreled on August 15, 2023," the lawsuit states. "On or about September 1, 2023, Father filed for divorce against Mother in Florida. On or about September 5, 2023, Mother disclosed through the media that Father had filed for divorce."
In early September, they confirmed the split through a joint statement:
"After four wonderful years of marriage, we have jointly decided to end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a shared decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our desire for privacy for us and our children."
