How to recover from the "hangover" after the work holiday

If you've woken up with a heavy head and a tired body after a night of drinking, you've most likely experienced a hangover. The only thing that can make it go away completely is time, after the body recovers, but there are some ways to alleviate the symptoms.

1. Fight dehydration

Dehydration makes hangovers worse. Drink as much water as you can - a big glass before bed can do wonders. Keep a glass of water by your bed to drink if you wake up during the night. If you want, you can add a pinch of salt and a little sugar to the water. But even an ordinary soft drink can help.

2. Eat something

Food can help restore your energy. If you have stomach problems, bouillon soup (a thin vegetable-based broth) is a good source of vitamins and minerals to replenish lost reserves. If you're feeling low, something sweet can help. You can use an antacid to calm your stomach.

3. Coffee - a friend, but in moderation

If you like coffee or tea, it's okay to have a cup in the morning. But be careful with large doses of very strong coffee, because a large amount of caffeine can cause rapid heartbeat or jittery feelings. These symptoms are not related to a hangover, but can be dangerous for those with heart problems.

A "healing" beer in the morning may seem tempting, but it's best to avoid alcohol until you feel better. Also, extreme treatments like cold showers aren't magic – more of a way to shiver.

To prevent hangovers in the future, you can follow the advice to limit alcohol consumption: no more than 14 units per week, spread over three or more days, and avoid excessive drinking. Taking care of your body not only saves you from headaches, but also reduces the risk of heart and liver diseases.

So, next time, think twice before you say "one last time". Your body will thank you!
