The Technical Committee of Experts announced at today's conference that there is an increase in the number of people infected with Covid, including an increase in hospitalizations, although it is much lower than the number of hospitalizations in it. same time a year ago.
"The main reason is the presence of the Delta virus, which is known to have a higher rate of infectivity. Vaccination has continued in the country without interruption, thanks to the continuous provision of vaccine doses and the organization of a process as close as possible to the citizens and has undoubtedly made the situation controlled, "said the chairwoman of the Committee of Experts, Mira Rakacolli.
Experts said the weekly average of new cases has gone up to 482 cases from about 291 a week ago. The total number of active cases has increased, which has increased the 2-week incidence by 5 times. Albana Fico, from the Institute of Public Health, pointed out that the 35-64 age group has a significant increase in new cases.
She mentioned that the municipalities with the highest incidence are Saranda, Himara, Malësia e Madhe, while the largest municipalities are Shkodra, Tirana and Vlora.
Regarding the anti-Covid measures, Rakacolli said that they will not change because they respond well to the epidemiological situation, but the problem is their implementation. They are:
- Obligation to wear the mask indoors as well as in premises where it is impossible to maintain social distance (shopping malls, supermarkets, airports, public transport, etc.).
- Outdoor gatherings are allowed up to 50 people.
- Police hours from 00.00 -06: 00.
- Music is allowed until 23:00
- The activities of theaters, artistic and cultural performances, conferences as well as sports championships are allowed, with a reduced capacity of up to 30% of spectators or participants, according to IPH protocols.
Rakacolli stressed that the situation can continue to remain stable, if the measures are strictly implemented and citizens are vaccinated.
