All fans of the animated film "Shrek" were very excited when they received the news that the fifth film would be released on December 26, 2026. However, when they saw the first trailer, it is an understatement to say that they were extremely disappointed.
People erupted with a slew of comments, mainly about the change in characters in the anime:
"Have they had plastic surgery?! Something is wrong with their faces," someone wrote.
“I wish they kept the original animation style like in the '00s. Why do we have to try to modernize everything?!” said one online user, and “This screams 'AI-made' all over,” said another.
On the other hand, there is a malfunction of the logic of history, as these other commentators pointed out:
"But they had more than one child??" when the trailer only shows Shrek and Fiona's grown daughter.
"Didn't Shrek and Fiona have 4-5 children? Who will play the others?" said someone else.
There are also those who hope that the long deadline for the release of the fifth film will make its creators change something:
"2026...so you're saying you have time to recreate it in the original animation style?" and " Let's 'bully' the creators until they give us the characters back with their original faces ," someone else said humorously.
The director of "Shrek" 5 is Walt Dohrn, who was also the screenwriter of "Shrek" 2 and "Shrek" 3, but apparently this time, he failed to meet the expectations of all fans of the legendary animated film.
