A few days after dethroning Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez set another record, becoming the first woman to reach 401 million followers on Instagram. At the moment, the most followed people on Instagram are Cristiano Ronaldo (562 million followers) and Lionel Messi (442 million followers).

Gomez has previously been the most followed woman on Instagram, after taking the title from Ariana Grande in 2019 and Jenner in 2023. Sel's followers have skyrocketed after her drama with Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner.
