White secretions are fluids that come out of the vagina during and after sexual activity. Some of them are intended to help sexual relations. These fluids are normal. They are usually translucent to milky white.
In other cases, white discharge is caused by an infection. Let's look at the possible reasons for what causes them, during or after sexual activity.
Excitement: Excitement is a common cause of discharge. Normally, vaginal secretions are clear or milky in color. This liquid cleans, protects and lubricates the vagina. When you are sexually stimulated, the fluid is more visible because it thickens and grows. As long as the penetration is not painful, there is no reason to worry.
Menstrual cycle changes: It is quite normal for vaginal secretions to change throughout the menstrual cycle. At the beginning and end, it is normal to have a thick white discharge. During ovulation, it is translucent in color, like egg white.
Discharge in pregnancy: You may notice more vaginal discharge than usual when you are pregnant. This is called leucorrhoea . The secretions are usually clear or white in color and do not have a strong odor. They are caused by a higher level of the hormones estrogen and progesterone in pregnancy.
White discharge after intercourse: Generally, white discharge after intercourse indicates an infection.
When should you see a doctor?
See your doctor if the discharge looks and smells different than usual. If the color is yellow, green or gray, it is cause for concern. You should also seek medical help if you have: pain during sexual activities, painful urination, abdominal pain, pelvic pain, itching, burning, redness, sores, etc.
