The state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife to the United Kingdom has officially begun, and what's a state visit without a little love from William and Kate? During a tour of a special German exhibition at Windsor Castle, cameras caught a very tender moment between the royal couple: Prince William gently rubbed Kate's back as they looked at the works. Very, very sweet.

The moment William touched Kate's back during the German state visit has sparked online comments, largely because the couple rarely makes such gestures in public. In July, during the official ceremony for the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, William and Kate were seen holding hands, a rare occurrence for them. Kate even placed her hand on William's lower back, another unusual move.

And let's not forget the moment from the September state dinner, when they posted a photo of themselves holding hands in the dark on Instagram, writing "Behind the Scenes."

Why all the recent affection? According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, it's all related to Kate's battle with cancer.
“William feels very lucky that Kate has come through this and wants to show the world his love,” she explains. “They are in a different phase of life, happy, grateful and more open with each other.”
She adds that William is more protective and incredibly proud of how Kate has progressed. So these small gestures are more than just public displays of affection, they are a clear statement of their journey and connection.
