Ben Affleck accused the media of reducing his two-hour interview with Howard Stern to out-of-context comments that made him appear "a bad, insensitive, stupid and terrible boy."
Many people interpreted his comments about his marriage to Jennifer Garner as blaming his ex-wife for his alcohol addiction. "We would probably end up putting our hands on each other's throats. Maybe I would have drunk yet. "One of the reasons I started drinking was because I felt like I was stuck somewhere," he told The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM.
Affleck, who has undergone rehab for alcohol addiction several times during his career, told Stern that it would still be difficult to give up if he continued his marriage to Garner which did not work out.
The actor told "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that his comments were part of a cordial interview and how he and Garner respect each other and do their best to take care of their three children.
According to him, the media interpreted his comments for clicks. "It 's exactly the opposite of who I am," he said. "I would never want my children to believe that I would say a bad word about their mother."
