A video that is rapidly circulating on social networks shows an unusual episode between French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, while disembarking from the presidential plane in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The footage, captured by the Associated Press, shows the moment when the plane door opens and instead of a ceremonial smile, Brigitte appears with her hands on her husband's face and then pushes him away.
Macron looks surprised for a second, but quickly regains his composure and waves through the open door. In the video, Brigitte's face and gestures are not visible, leaving commentators to speculate.
The president's team immediately came out to calm the media noise, saying it was a "spontaneous joke between the couple" before the tour in Southeast Asia officially began.
"It was a moment of relaxation, a little game between them before the ceremony. Nothing more," said a source.
Another official voice added that the situation is being deliberately inflated by pro-Russian accounts or regular critics of Macron, who are eager for a video taken out of context to fuel speculation.
