The Director General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said during a conference held in Geneva that "the time for action should have happened a month ago".
"This is the number one public enemy," Tedros said.
"The time to act really should have happened a month ago, two months ago ... but we still believe we can control the situation," he said. "This is the second opportunity that we should not give up and do everything we can to stop the spread of the virus. This is a responsibility for all of us - especially for policy leaders. "
