The dates and times for the upcoming Academy Awards have been officially confirmed, shedding light on how the ceremonies will take place in 2027 and 2028.
When will the Oscars be held?

According to the announcement, the 99th Academy Awards will be held on March 14, 2027, while the historic 100th edition will take place on March 5, 2028. Both ceremonies will begin at 7:00 p.m. (UTC) and will be broadcast live on ABC , reaching a global audience in over 200 territories.
The end of an era in Hollywood

These two editions will also mark the final years of the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the Oscars have been held since 2002. Starting in 2029, the ceremony will move to the Peacock Theater , part of the LA Live complex.
This change comes as a result of a long-term agreement between the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the company AEG , which guarantees that the event will take place in the new environment until 2039.
Investments and improvements
As part of this agreement, AEG will invest in improving the Peacock Theatre , including the stage, sound and lighting technicalities, as well as necessary spaces, such as backstage.
The 100th edition in 2028 will be the last ceremony to be held at the Dolby Theatre , before the final move a year later.

Changes in transmission
The 2027 and 2028 ceremonies will also be the last to air on ABC under the current deal. Starting in 2029, the Oscars will move to the YouTube platform , marking a major change in how the event is distributed and broadcast.
