Epstein files show acts that could amount to crimes against humanity, UN experts say

Independent UN experts said that documents released on the Jeffrey Epstein case raise doubts about the existence of a global criminal network whose actions may reach the legal threshold of crimes against humanity against women and girls.
According to them, the scale, systematic nature and international spread of the abuses require an independent and thorough investigation, while over 1,200 victims have been identified.
The documents also shed light on Epstein's connections with prominent figures in politics, finance and business before he died in prison in 2019.
A torturous tropical disease can now be transmitted across much of Europe, study finds

A study conducted by the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology shows that the tropical disease chikungunya, a virus transmitted by the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) and causing high fever and severe joint pain, could now spread across much of Europe.
Global warming has lowered the minimum temperature for transmission of the virus, increasing the risk of outbreaks in 29 European countries and for longer periods of time throughout the year. The Asian tiger mosquito is spreading further north, making it only a matter of time before the disease spreads.
Experts warn that preventive measures, such as removing stagnant water and using mosquito spray, are necessary to protect yourself.
