In a Q&A session posted on YouTube, on the official channel of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer responded to a fan who asked her what one thing she does every day that brings her joy. Her answer directly related to children.
“Cuddles,” she said. “My kids are 9 and 11. They’re at that beautiful stage where they’re old enough to take care of themselves, but still young enough to want cuddles and closeness. What’s been happening lately has been really hard on our family, so I’ve been letting the kids sleep with me a lot, it’s the two dogs, my two kids, and me. It’s a little chaotic,” she said with humor. “But it’s been really special, because the conversations that happen in those moments are really sweet. It’s probably my favorite part of the day.”
Brandon Blackstock passed away on August 7, 2025, after a years-long battle with cancer. During their marriage, Clarkson and Blackstock became parents to two children: daughter River and son Remington.

A source close to the singer recently told PEOPLE that Kelly Clarkson was "deeply hurt" for her children after the loss of their father.

"Losing a parent is incredibly painful and confusing for children," the source said. "But Kelly is very strong. She's not one to give up. She looks at life realistically and does everything she can to keep the environment as stable and loving as possible for her children."
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock officially divorced two years after she filed for separation in 2020, after nearly seven years of marriage. Although their divorce was difficult and accompanied by legal proceedings, sources emphasize that she has always valued the importance of her children's relationship with their father.
