Nina Dobrev is doing great after her split from her ex-fiancé of 5 years, Shaun White. At least, that's the impression her latest Instagram post gives.
The now-single actress posted the perfect revenge photo* from her latest vacation on December 26. And no, this sultry photo wasn't hidden among a photo album.
*A revenge photo is an action that an ex uses to show that they are doing well after an unpleasant situation, often after a breakup or betrayal, and that attracts a lot of attention.
Example: Princess Diana bought and wore a famous “Revenge Dress” in 1994, the night Prince Charles’s infidelity was publicly announced. The dress highlighted her strength and independence and was seen as a symbolic act of revenge.
The Vampire Diaries star posted a single photo, showing her lying in a wooden sauna overlooking a stunning lake, wearing a black lace-up bikini.
“Mentally in 'airplane mode,'” she wrote in the caption. (A gesture to show that she's not worried at all.)
Nina made the bold move after previously sharing a series of photos from her low-key Christmas celebrations with her family in Canada. This year also marked the first time she celebrated the holidays alone following her split from Shaun White in September.
At the time, an insider told Us Weekly:
"Nina is devastated. They had finally started planning the wedding and everything was moving forward."
The same source denied rumors that the Olympian had cheated on Nina, adding:
"There was no infidelity during their entire five-and-a-half-year relationship. They were very loyal to each other. Any online speculation to the contrary is ridiculous."
As for the reason for the split, another source told People:
"There was only one reason: she wanted to start a family and get married, and he didn't."
So, a big waste of 5 years of life. So, a revenge photo is the least Nina could do.
