Albano Bogdo's postcard for next year, we can say, is mostly directed at the problems, instead of the joys that this year left behind.
Invited to the show Quo Vadis on Vizion Plus, he made a summary of the way reality is reflected in the media; on how and how willing artists are to speak on shows where they are invited about real problems instead of some entertainment or achievements of the moment.
"Art in Albania is doing an extraordinary job. Even in the media in general. Yes, art, art. I'm not kidding at all. Artists and the media and everyone are convincing people that we are going to join the EU now. Now everything is fine and let's laugh, enjoy, celebrate Christmas. Oh how beautiful, this one made us laugh, this one works in the theater, this one works in the opera, Big Brother started, the farm will start. No artist comes out to say we are in the top ten countries with the most water per capita and no family has 24/7 running water at home. Hydropower plants can be built on these magnificent rivers and we have free electricity. The electricity bill is the biggest nightmare of Albanian families. No artist or media comes out to say that the average salary increased from 400 thousand old lek to 500 thousand old lek..."
His list goes on. As the number of concerns increases, his reaction to artists becomes even harsher.
"This is my New Year's card, artists are a big s**t in Albania! Everyone lies and they are all bought! Everyone bows their heads because they are afraid of the media owners and no one tells the truth to their faces. The truth is that we are an unfortunate nation and are grateful that we have these holidays to meet and kiss each other. This is my card."
