Mario, the father of Beatrice Gjergji, who together with Kolë Lacë will represent us with "Zjerm" at Eurovision, spoke in an interview for the show "Në Shqipëria". Mario said that he is experiencing strong emotions and together with his wife, they have not slept for 2 months.
"There are some strong emotions. My wife and I haven't slept for about two months. We try to bring the best possible to our country," he said in the virtual interview.
Further, Mario proudly added that the song "Zjerm" came from Bea's own soul:
"The song "Zjerm" came from her soul. They are all words of the soul. For me, this song is like being part of the body. It accompanies me everywhere. I am surprised that this song has pleased the peoples of the world. This is a song where Kola and Beatrice have made an extraordinary mix. They have found a language and love for their country. My daughter and Kola have introduced young people to a great love for the nation."
Beatrice's father also spoke about his daughter's simple nature, indicating that she is friends with all the Eurovision groups:
"Beatrice has a nature that is simple, what she has she expresses with her simplicity. She has company with all the Eurovision groups."
He also mentioned the fear he had that Bea, who grew up in Italy, would stray from her cultural identity, saying that initially, Beatrice didn't really like Albanian music.
"(She) grew up with Shkodra songs, I infused them into her as much as possible, but she didn't really like our music... She had a beautiful voice, but it seemed to me like she was going 'off the rails'."
Mario also emphasized that everyone in the Gjergji family sings and that they have music in their blood.
"Music is in our blood. In the Gjergji family, everyone sings... they used to say jokingly: even the chickens sing among them. We eat bread with music."
Shkodra Elektronike sings today on the final stage of Eurovision, representing us worthily. Their song “Zjerm” has been widely embraced in Albania and in European countries and has ranked quite well in rankings and polls. What remains for us is to vote and support Shkodra Elektronike in one of the most exciting journeys for them and our country. From any country in the world you can vote #26.
