Hailey Bieber showed her reality as it is.
She posted a candid photo on Instagram showing off her body while she's been struggling with ovarian cysts. In the photo, she lifted her top, showing her followers her stomach. For those who don't know, these cysts can cause bloating, lower abdominal pain, irregular menstrual cycles, and other symptoms.
“I currently have 2 ovarian cysts,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “If you are dealing with ovarian cysts, I am with you! ???.”
This isn't the first time Hailey has spoken out about her body issues. In November 2022, she shared on Instagram that she had a cyst "the size of an apple."
"I don't have endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), but I have had ovarian cysts a few times and it's never pleasant," she added.
At the time, she posted a video where she lifted her blouse and wrote "it's not a baby" next to her belly.
“[Cysts] are painful, annoying, make me nauseous, bloated, sore and emotional,” she commented. “Anyway… I’m sure many of you may be experiencing the same thing. We’ll get through this.”
Hailey has previously spoken about the pregnancy rumors that spread whenever she appears bloated, during an interview with GQ in October 2023.
“Lately, everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, she’s pregnant.’ And that’s happened to me a few times before,” the model told the magazine.
“There's something frustrating about that: 'So I can't be bloated once without being pregnant?'”
Later, Hailey welcomed her first child, son Jack Blues, with Justin Bieber in August 2024.
What should we know about ovarian cysts?
Ovarian cysts, or cysts on the ovaries, are very common. They are often painless and have no symptoms, but sometimes they can indicate serious problems.
There are several types of ovarian cysts and some of their symptoms (if they occur) are: bloating, abdominal pain, pain during menstruation, intimate intercourse, back or thigh pain, breast tenderness, vomiting.
When cysts rupture, you may experience severe pain, dizziness, fever, or rapid breathing. In these cases, you should definitely seek medical help.
Ovarian cysts are diagnosed through a pelvic exam and ultrasound. In special cases, CT, MRI, and blood or pregnancy tests are used. Many cysts disappear on their own, so sometimes doctors just monitor them.
Treatment:
Most of these cysts are benign (non-cancerous) and do not require treatment.
In other cases, treatment depends on their type and size. Large cysts or those suspected of being cancerous are removed surgically.
Prevention:
- Oral contraceptives can stop ovulation and the development of cysts.
- Regular gynecological check-ups help with early detection.
Ovarian cysts are usually harmless and often go away on their own, but in some cases they may require medical attention. Regular gynecological check-ups and attention to symptoms are key to early diagnosis and treatment.
