Work at RTSH continues to arouse much controversy, while another journalist, Ermal Peçi, has left, who has declared that he will speak out about the fact that he suddenly left his show, not respecting the necessary legal procedures.
“I will not be silent and I will not stop. All those who try to hide the truth, let them remember that justice is still there. And it will speak. Much faster than they think. Transparency in a public media is not only necessary, but mandatory. And the public has the right to know the true reasons for every decision that affects the programs it follows, embraces, watches and clicks on.”
In addition to his statement, other well-known personalities have also expressed their dissatisfaction and criticism of their work at RTSH. It started with Bledi Strakosha, who left RTSH after 8 years, where he hosted the show "Me Bledin". He, through an announcement on Instagram, said:
"The last eight years at RTSH were closed for me. Nothing new and nothing shocking for someone who has been working in the media for 32 years. With the movements of the market, with the changing tastes of the audience and perhaps even with the whims of the managers or with whomever is nearby in the office or elsewhere at certain times of the day and night, we are used to it and we are not caught unprepared."
Bledi reflected on the situation within RTSH and said that television is in such a state, where professionals have made a silent pact to be treated like a citizen treats a rented house. He continued the post and said that he dreams of RTSH having an average fate.
Then, journalist Elona Jaçellari revealed that on December 31, 2024, through third-party sources, she was notified by the director of RTSH, Aurora Polo, that the immediate and unannounced suspension of the show she hosted, “Jetë Shqiptare,” had been decided. The broadcast of the show was also interrupted without any notice or explanation to the public.
Elona expressed herself in a statement on social media:
"Today, I want to share with you an important message about the violation of my professional and human dignity. Found in a situation where I have been unemployed for two months in the most absurd and inhumane circumstances, I chose to speak out in the face of this injustice, even though generally in such situations I choose to remain silent, learn my lesson and move forward,"
Anabel contacted Elona Jaçellari, who informed us more about her public reaction. The journalist stated that even though the show "Jetë Shqiptare" was the most watched on all television, the director of RTSH made the decision to terminate the contract during its review period, which was precisely December 2024.
Alban Dudushi, invited to "The Dalina Show", also provided some details about the termination of his contract without any clarification from RTSH.
"Two shows that were successful, both in viewership and on YouTube, were also interrupted there - Elona's show and my show," he said.
According to Dudushi, this whole story is a combination of absurdity and lack of logic.
"It's a funny, banal, and irritating story. We've been through a lot in this profession, we've known a lot. Naturally, there's intrigue, it's a world that, for the sake of truth, has competition within it, and that's normal. It's not a bed of roses, it's not always as it seems on screen. But when something happens that doesn't make sense in itself, that's the part that confuses and irritates you."
Dudushi summed up this situation as pure absurdity.
RTSH is involved in an extremely chaotic situation and, given the reactions of public figures, even stressful, given that shows and contracts are being terminated in an inexplicable manner and without respecting the relevant legislation. Unclear decisions, job insecurity for employees and further, in shows that are served to the public, who pay taxes to watch the shows they like (referring to viewership), is unfair not only to the RTSH staff, but also to the people who take the time and are able to follow these shows.
It is well known that employees must be notified in advance of their dismissal, but in addition, since RTSH is financed by contributions from citizens of the Republic of Albania, it is obliged to provide an explanation for the interruption of the broadcasts and programs it broadcasts. The chaos caused by this negligence towards staff and the public is unacceptable and once again raises the discussion on the treatment of employees in the workplace, as well as on the treatment of the public and the lack of information that viewers should receive.
Anabel requested information from the RTSH management staff and director Aurora Polo on February 24, 2025, but we never received a response, despite having a legal obligation to do so based on Law No. 119/2014, "On Information Rights".
