P. Diddy's trial is approaching and the latter seems to have changed strategy to escape the charges that are weighing on him. The court hearing will start in less than three weeks, where P. Diddy is expected to face a host of charges for rape, sexual assault and human trafficking.
Amidst so many serious allegations, the rapper has reportedly been pushing for a black woman to join his defense team. According to sources cited by TMZ, Diddy's lawyers are looking for a black woman to join their existing team, which includes Mark Aniflo and Tenny Geragos.
The request comes with strict specifications, as it calls for a person with the experience and skills to handle a case of high difficulty. Sources also report that renowned criminologist Mark Geragos will play an important role in the legal defense.
The rapper's request is not only related to the image of his defense team, but also to legal strategy, as lawyers have previously stated that the authorities are trying to "target a rich and successful black man."
Meanwhile, a former member of the group, Anthony Rico, who is also black, withdrew from the case last February. Diddy's effort to find a black female lawyer appears to be very challenging, as the team must be filled by May 5th.
However, the lawyers have submitted a request to the trial panel to postpone the start of the trial by at least two weeks.
